2008 Speakers

Peggy J. Fisher
President, TireStamp Inc.

Peggy Fisher is President of TireStamp Inc., a leading edge tire monitoring and tire asset management solutions company.  Prior to joining TireStamp in 2006, she was recognized as North America’s leading independent truck tire and wheel expert and consulted with fleets and equipment suppliers, tread rubber, tire, and wheel manufacturers on product development, market introduction and user and sales force training to ensure product success and penetration into the trucking industry.

She is among the leaders of the Technology & Maintenance Council of the American Trucking Association having served as General Chairman and Treasurer and has chaired its Tire & Wheel Study Group for ten years.  She currently chairs two Tire & Wheel Task Forces.  She is also active in tire industry associations.  She served as a Director of the International Tire & Rubber Association and the Tire Industry Association for 14 years and currently serves as President of TIA.  She has also served as a Director of the Tire Retread Information Bureau from 1995 to 1998 and has been a full member of the Society of Automotive Engineers since 1983.

The Maintenance Council’s Peggy J. Fisher Award for Excellence in Study Group Leadership, which she won in 1986 is named for her.  She also holds the coveted Silver Spark Plug Award for her contributions to improving heavy-duty vehicles, their maintenance and maintenance management, and TMC’s Recognized Associate Award for her dedicated service to the Council. This year, Peggy was awarded the Commercial Carrier Journal’s Technology & Maintenance Career Leadership Award which she received in February for her dedication to professionalism and excellence in commercial vehicle technology and maintenance management.

Vince Fortuna
President, FloCon Consulting

Mr. Fortuna’s career began in 1962 as a mechanic with Smith & Solomon Trucking Company Inc., an LTL/DCC carrier based in the Northeast, where he would later become Director of Maintenance for the fleet of 900 vehicles and 7 maintenance facilities.

Over his 44 year truck transportation career, he served as Vice President of Fleet Services for Waste Management’s International Fleet of 56,000 vehicles, serviced through 1,000 maintenance facilities and was the Vice President of Maintenance for Ryder Transportation Resources, International Fleet of over 200,000 vehicles, serviced through 900 maintenance facilities across five operating divisions.

Currently, Vince is the Managing Principle of Fleet Operations Consulting, LLC. Flocon is a Tennessee based transportation consulting company that Mr. Fortuna founded in 2001 specializing in asset management and operating cost reduction through application specific process driven disciplines.

He is recognized as a leader and innovator in the area of planned maintenance, productivity improvements, cost reduction and vehicle performance engineering. These initiatives include maintenance improvements through employee empowerment, staffing for total customer support, outsourced service supplier integration based on measured objectives from a jointly developed business plan, “Mean Time to Failure Predictive Maintenance” from Integrated Maintenance Information Systems, and process structured asset management for tires, Total “Tire Management” (TTM).

Lew Flowers
Manager, National Fleet Sales, HD America

Lew Flowers has been in the fleet maintenance field for more than 35 years. Lew retired in 2008 from the Postal Service where he held several positions in their vehicle maintenance operations, including nine years as a fleet manager for the state of Oklahoma. He also served as a training specialist for the USPS. Lew is an active member of the Technology and Maintenance Council (TMC) where he has served as General Chairman and Treasurer. His other memberships include Oklahoma Trucking Association and Society of Automotive Engineers. Lew has received several TMC awards including the Silver Spark Plug and Peggy Fisher Study Group Leadership Award.  In 2007, Commercial Carrier Journal awarded Lew with their Executive Career Leadership Award.

Lew is currently employed by HD America as Manager, National Fleet Sales. He holds a BS degree from the University of Central Oklahoma and is a ASE Master Automobile and Truck Technician. Lew Flowers hails from Oklahoma City where he has lived for the past 31 years with his wife Tammy. They have two children and four grandchildren. Lew enjoys spending time with his family in his RV and tailgating at Oklahoma football games. 


Jack Poster
VMRS Services Manager, Technology and Maintenance Council

Jack Poster has more than 35 years in the transportation industry. A graduate of the University of Cincinnati, he began his career at his family’s Chrysler-Plymouth dealership managing the parts, service and tire departments. From 1985 to 2004, he served in various management positions with Merchant’s Tire & Auto in Northern Virginia, one of the largest independent tire dealers at that time.

From 2004 to 2007, Jack was employed by Mancon Inc., a government contract firm and purchasing agent for the Virginia Department of Transportation as the Northern Virginia District Manager. It was with Mancon that Jack used VMRS to code and manage VDOT’s parts inventory.

Jack is currently the VMRS Services Manager for the Technology and Maintenance Council of American Trucking Associations. He oversees the VMRS program and is responsible for code management and the overall integrity of VMRS.


Powell Stevenson

Powell Stevenson is a graduate of Rutgers University with a BS in Business Management and is a Certified Safety and Health Manager as well as a Certified Trainer. He spent 18 years with Scott Paper in various management positions including safety. He also has been the Director of Operations for several medium-sized manufacturing companies. From 1994 to 1998, Powell was with Haddonfield Lumber Company and was responsible for developing their safety and “Drug Free Workplace” programs. Haddonfield was purchased by the Strober Organization in October of 1998. From 1999-2007, Powell was the Corporate Risk and Insurance Manager for Strober Building Supply. He has a strong background in OHSA and D.O.T. compliance as well as establishing compliance programs, drug free workplace programs, workers compensation, injury reduction, and operations management. With more than 12 years experience training Forklift Operators, he is the forklift Trainer of Record for the New Jersey Lumber Dealers Association and has certified in excess of 3,000 Forklift Operators. Powell has spoken locally and nationally on establishing a “Drug Free Workplace” and effective safety & D.O.T. programs. He is a member of the Steering Committee for The Partnership for a Drug Free New Jersey and a member of The National Safety Management Society, the American Society of Safety Engineers, The National Safety Council, The Builder’s League of SJ, and the Gloucester County Chamber of Commerce.  His background in Safety spans 46 years. CNA Insurance Company honored him as the Risk Manager of the Year for 2005. Powell is an OSHA Outreach Trainer for the 10 & 30-hour construction course.
