AmeriQuest Transportation Industry Symposium: More Than 150 Transportation Leaders Gather to Discuss Economic Outlook, Transportation Trends
CHERRY HILL, NJ, May 7, 2009 – More than 150 transportation industry executives representing the private fleet, truckload carrier, rental and leasing, and supply communities gathered in April in Orlando, FL for the 6th Annual AmeriQuest Transportation Industry Symposium.
Hosted by AmeriQuest Transportation Services, this year’s program featured a range of topics which included strategies and tactics for managing a business in a recession environment, an economic update led by Dan North, Chief Economist for Euler Hermes ACI, discussions regarding business sustainability, the Employee Free Choice Act, the current state and future of capital markets, and the United States highway infrastructure.
Highlights of the Symposium include Charles “Shorty” Whittington, Chairman of the American Trucking Associations, who addressed the “Top 10 Challenges for 2009,” including issues such as the economy, driver retention, government regulation, the highway infrastructure, and environmental initiatives.
A presentation given by Dan North, Chief Economist for Euler Hermes ACI was among the most anticipated by attendees. North’s macroeconomic analyses have been featured on ABC, CNBC, Fox Business Network, and Bloomberg Television. He has been quoted by numerous national and international media entities, including USA Today, Barron’s, Forbes, and Business Week. North gave an in-depth look into the state of the economy, the current recession and how it resulted, and its impact on both the U.S. and global financial markets. He also gave attendees insight into a hopeful recovery during the second half of 2009.
Along with dynamic speakers and industry panelists, more than 50 suppliers showcased their latest products at the Symposium. Attendees were offered a look at the most up-to-date services and products, including MRO supplies, capital equipment, material handling products, technology solutions, and more.
Doug Clark, President and CEO of AmeriQuest Transportation Services noted, “It is my opinion that the attendees of this year’s Symposium are tomorrow’s winners because they have come together to share information and expertise in a collaborative process with the best assemblage of experience and talent in the transportation industry. The feedback we have received from this year’s attendees shows that they felt that the time they spent with us was well-spent and beneficial to their organizations.”
